One who truly appreciates the profession can realize that it is not alone enough just to do, but to help and show others how to do as well. Consider those who might have been the teachers of Christopher Columbus, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Albert Einstein, or Stephen Hawking. Is it possible that in some way, their teachers helped shape who they were and what they became? Not only possible, but probable. Imagine that there is a young mind sitting in a classroom today somewhere in the world who will someday discover a cure for cancer. Teachers have the awesome opportunity, and responsibility, to inspire tomorrows greatest people. Society must then seek to learn from itself and from each other... to become discoverers of those things we hold dear, those truths that will bring us one day to our own personal ulimate happiness.
